COSAS Arts - Kathy Sosa’s Huipiles Paintings
Kathy’s series of folk art oil paintings celebrate and explore the textiles and imagery of Huipiles, hand-woven material from the Mayan age still in popular use in Mexico and Central America today. These beautiful motifs, often rich in symbolism are celebrated and worn today by many women North of the border who admire the beauty and care given to the patterns and textiles.
More than 20 paintings will be featured in the exhibit, which will travel from Boerne, Texas to Sante Fe, New Mexico.
The Huipiles Show will open during Second Saturday -- a wine, cheese, art and trolley tour of the finest of Boerne’s downtown galleries and shops. Second Saturday is Saturday, February 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
